Our Missionaries & Missions

Tala-andig Church, Philippines (Jason & Shirley Birkin)

Jason and Shirley have been based in the Philippines for more than 35 years. They work among the Tala-andig people. The church established there has its own leadership and is actively reaching out to the tribes and areas around it. We visited the church in 2024 and praise the Lord for the difference the Gospel has made in their lives! (see photos - Galleries)

WAKA Church, Ethiopia (Leader: Eyasu Eyob) -

The Church at Waka was established by a Bob & Jean King 75+ years ago. WEBC has had a strong connection with WAKA ever since. Our last visit there was in 2024 (see photos - Galleries).

The church has now grown to over 250 churches. They are still establishing new churches as the need grows and have recently opened several Bible Colleges for the training of local evangelists and pastors. Their need for motorbikes for pastoral visits is great. If you can help, please contact Pastor Calvyn via the church office.

Light Viewers Ministry, India (Samuel & Praveena Dasi)

Samuel and Praveena Dasi are presently pastoring a number of small churches in and around Machilipatnam and Gollopalem (Andhra Pradesh).

A few years ago the church raised money for the purchase of 40 sewing machines. Local women - many of whom  have no other income - have been taught to sew using these machines. Through the classes they have also been taught about Jesus and many of them have given their hearts and lives to the Lord. Pastor Calvyn recently visited them in 2025 (see photos - Galleries)

Andrew & Christine Smith (Auckland) - computer support for SIM.

Although based in Auckland, Andrew provides essential IT support for SIM staff around the world.

On a sabbatical to the UK, he spent time with well known Christian apologetics authors and speakers, researching new ways to engage people with the Gospel message, and then published a book.
